Database searching has recently gained a new look! The databases are the same (Medline, Cinahl, BNI, AMED, Embase, Psychinfo, HMIC, Health Business Elite) but there are some differences in exactly how the search works.
NICE have produced some handy videos to help you
There are also some written guides which you can download from the useful links section of the Library pages on the Trust Intranet
Or from our website http://whhtlibraries.weebly.com/athens-resources.html
And of course we’re here to help if you would just like a refresher course on how to get the best out of the resources!

At long last we can see the resource the Visible Body – there are 4 apps: Human Anatomy Atlas , Anatomy and Function, Skeleton Premium and Muscle Premium. We have had these installed on the pcs in the library at Watford. It should be possible to have them installed elsewhere.
The resource can also be accessed on home computers using OpenAthens login.
We have some great new resources for you to try. They do need you to use you Open Athens username and password so if you need to reinstate that please contact us in the library.
Clinical Key – This is a collection of e-books, journals, images, procedures and more besides. Well worth exploring. https://clinicalkey.com
Royal Marsden Manual of Clinical Nursing Procedures http://www.rmmonline.co.uk (can be accessed from the trust intranet without login)
ClinicalSkills.net A very clearly set out easy to follow illustrated set of procedures with accompanying evidence. This also includes assessment modules. Again this can be linked to from the Trust intranet
The Visible Body. This is an anatomy resource which allows you to look at different levels and from all angles. Unfortunately technical issues are still stopping us using this on Trust computers! However if you are interested and have your own computer this may be possible. So contact us for more information
Do you have any saved searches on the healthcare databases – particularly on Medline or Psychinfo?
The provider of the databases will be changing on April 1st. Your saved searches or alerts will not carry across. So it is important that you take action NOW to make sure that you are still able to use your searches or alerts if they are still important for you. Please contact library staff for help in doing this.
